I like a smoothie that packs a punch - a little something extra that makes it more filling. Adding oats or almond butter, for example, can make a smoothie more substantial. Like many, I am always looking for ways to add more healthy protein to my diet, something we typically don't get enough of. When I was introduced to 22 Days Nutrition, I could not wait to try their protein powders in my smoothies. After trying, I quickly learned that a protein powder can actually taste good in a smoothie, not overpower the taste, and add that little something I have been looking for.

I am sharing a few of my favorite recipes from 22 Days Nutrition, incorporating their plant-protein powders and many of the ingredients I commonly use for my smoothies at home. The results are delicious and I know I am getting that added boost of protein without sacrificing overall taste.

Noteworthy smoothie tips:

  • Use homemade almond milk, if possible, for the best flavor
  • Freeze your bananas (if even just 30 minutes or an hour before)
  • If you like a sweeter smoothie, add a few chopped/pitted dates or a splash of honey
  • Use organic ingredients, whenever possible
  • Stock your freezer with frozen fruit (you won't have to worry about your fruit going bad and you will always have some options on hand!)
  • To thicken a smoothie, you can always add a handful of ice
  • If your smoothie is too thick, try to thin with a little extra liquid. I like to add a few splashes of coconut water.

He has truly created a movement, providing the tools and products to those interested in making a lifestyle change. Marco Borges

Noteworthy: What inspired the launch of 22 Days of Nutrition?

Marco: Initially, it was a selfish desire to create food I wanted to consume but could not find in the market place (100% plant-based, USDA Organic, Non-GMO, gluten-free, and made without compromise). People began to take notice and our message began to resonate with vegans and non-vegans alike. Today, we like to say that we are a plant-based lifestyle solutions brand for anyone looking for optimum wellness.

Noteworthy: What is the significance of “22 days”?

Marco: It's been said that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. If we adopt a healthy habit over the course of 21 days, then on the 22nd day we are armed with a new habit to live a healthier and happier life.

Noteworthy: What is your food philosophy?

Marco: Food is medicine and plants are often times the best prescription! I believe that the closer we all get to a plant-based diet, the healthier we'll be and health brings happiness. Two things this world could use a little more of...

Noteworthy: Where can people buy your products or try your meal delivery program?

Marco: Our meal delivery program is offered exclusively through our website 22DaysNutrition.com. All of our other products can be found online as well as retailers across the country (Vitamin Shoppe, Whole Foods, Sprouts, H.E.B., CVS, and many others).

Noteworthy: What is one piece of advice you would offer someone interested in changing their diet and overall lifestyle?

Marco: The key to success is consistency so if you work on developing habits around food and lifestyle, the effort becomes easier and the actions automatic. That's the magic of The 22-Day Revolution.
