We are so excited to welcome Abbey Glass to Charlotte, NC, this week for an exclusive shopping event on Thursday, November 10 at the New Gallery of Modern Art. If you are in the area, we hope to see you! This is an event you will not want to miss. Shop current collections from Abbey and hear from her during our designer chat in the evening. The shop opens at 10am.
I met Abbey in New Orleans earlier this year at Brandshop and was an instant fan (of her and the clothes!). Abbey's clothes have a way of making you feel feminine, classic, and fresh.
Abbey is known for her refined take on a Southern aesthetic, mixing creative textiles with clean lines, and excellence in fit. The brand exhibits qualities of the designer’s self proclaimed Jackie O/rock and roll lifestyle. There is a definite country club vibe cut with the perfect amount of minimalism and quirk. The Georgia native is an adventurous traveler, creating work that brings together a traditional American romanticism and a worldly edge.
Noteworthy: What inspired the launch of Abbey Glass?
Abbey: I started making custom clothing for women in Atlanta and New York right after my runway debut at the Supima Design Competition for NYFW. The demand kept increasing for custom coats and dresses, so I decided to create a collection for women to order from. That was the very beginning of my RTW (ready-to-wear) business.
Noteworthy: How would you describe the “Abbey Glass” woman?
Abbey: Classic, refined, modern, whimsical, feminine, and smart.
Noteworthy: One word that best describes you as a designer.
Noteworthy: Who are your style icons?
Abbey: Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Onassis, Sophia Coppola, Jean Shrimpton, Carolina Herrera, and Grace Kelly.
Noteworthy: What was your source of inspiration for your recent collection?
