Pumpkin spice lattes have become a popular way for us pumpkin fans to ring in the fall season. Give me all things pumpkin! I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, and of course coffee. I thought I would give an at home pumpkin spice latte a shot and was even more motivated to try when I came across a healthier (dairy-free and naturally sweetened) option. This easy recipe is a must try and I promise you can make barista-worthy froth at home.
Pumpkin Spice Latte (via detoxinista.com)
- 1 cup almond milk (homemade is best!)
- 1 cup strongly brewed coffee
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together almond milk, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and pie spice until combined. Remove pumpkin spice mixture from heat and transfer to a liquid measuring cup (for easy pouring). Fill a coffee cup about 1/4 to a 1/2 full with pumpkin spice mix and top off with freshly brewed coffee (I prefer to brew a stronger coffee to get more of an espresso-like taste). In same saucepan, over medium heat add about 1/4 cup of almond milk and whisk briskly until milk begins to froth (this will take at least a minute so be patient!). Using a spoon, skim froth from pan and top coffee for a perfect latte. Enjoy!
